Hummingbird used the first two steps of the Engagement Nest by conducting a Situational Analysis and Relationship Mapping to support Albuquerque’s Environmental Health Department (EHD) as they deepened relationships with community organizations in the region. With the stalling of an air quality-focused cumulative impacts law, our work focused on ensuring that EHD was equipped with the knowledge and training to work alongside community stakeholders in a culturally humble way. We utilized qualitative and quantitative tools for this project, including GIS mapping of the city’s most vulnerable communities, stakeholder forums, and data analysis.
